I still over-explain before anyone asks me to

Dear Delyara, I hear myself doing it and still struggle to stop. The extra sentence. The softener. The “what I mean is.” The little reassurance built into the explanation before anyone has even responded. It sounds thoughtful. It sounds composed. Often it is just fear trying to stop the room from going dangerous too quickly. I don’t want to keep speaking like I need to wear padding under every honest thought. But some old part of me still believes misunderstanding is the most likely first response and I must outrun it with extra language before it arrives. That is exhausting.
