I still panic a little every time something breaks in the house
Dear Delyara, It’s never just the kettle, or the washing machine, or the car light, or the leaking tap. It’s timing, cost, arranging the fix, adjusting everything else around it, and the private emotional shift that happens the second ordinary life becomes more expensive than planned. I hate how fast my body still goes there. The immediate contraction. The narrowing of mood. The little shame that arrives as if broken things reflect some wider personal failure. I wish I responded more calmly. I still respond historically.
