The PlotLost Ambition

I Still Want More From My Life, But The Wanting Often Arrives Already Ashamed Of Itself

Dear Delyara, I do want more. More dignity. More freedom. More meaningful work. More money security. More space. More selfhood. More life that feels chosen instead of only managed. But the wanting doesn’t arrive cleanly anymore. It arrives with embarrassment. As if a tired mother, a financially pressured woman, an adult already carrying too much should know better than to still have ambition that asks for visible change. So desire enters apologising. And because it apologises, it rarely gets to move with force. That is not lack of ambition. It is ambition humiliated by real life often enough that it no longer trusts itself to stand up straight.
