The BondParents

I still want to be understood in a language they never fully had

Dear Delyara, I know now that some of the things I keep wanting from my parents belong to a language they were never taught to speak. That realization brings compassion. It does not remove longing. I still want the emotional precision, the softness without awkwardness, the “I see the shape of what this costs you” kind of understanding that would settle somewhere deeper than practical concern. I know they care. I know that. But caring and emotional fluency are not the same thing. The gap between them still hurts in quiet ways.
