My Diary
I stood at the freezer and felt personally attacked by dinner
Dear Delyara, Nothing looked right. Nothing felt easy. Every option had some problem attached to it. Too slow. Too little. Too much washing up. The children won’t eat that. We had that yesterday. That needs defrosting. I’m too tired to chop anything. I’m too tired to think. I stood there staring into the freezer light as if the answer might present itself out of mercy. In the end I made something simple and no one complained, which counts as success in this house. But what stayed with me was how emotionally loaded such a normal task can become when decision fatigue has already eaten most of your brain by evening. Dinner is never just dinner when you’re the person expected to solve it every day.
