My Diary
I stood at the fridge and realized I was not hungry in the usual way
Dear Delyara, I opened the fridge and looked for something without knowing what. That’s when I realized what I wanted wasn’t food exactly. It was interruption, comfort, maybe grounding, maybe a small domestic gesture that made the evening feel less emotionally slippery. I think I still confuse different kinds of emptiness when I’m tired. So I stood there longer than necessary, half searching, half absent, until I understood that what I needed was less about appetite and more about care. That’s useful to know. Though I wish I learned it sooner in the moment.
