My Diary

I stood by the sink and didn’t start anything

Dear Delyara, Tonight I stood by the sink for a while and didn’t start the next thing. No washing up. No wiping down. No “while I’m here, I may as well…” I just stood there. It felt oddly difficult to do nothing in a space that usually reminds me of everything unfinished. Maybe that’s because I’ve trained myself to keep converting every small pause into productivity. Standing still in a practical room can feel almost disobedient when you live like that. But tonight I needed the pause more than the progress. I think sometimes my body asks for stillness in places where my habits expect motion. That happened tonight.
