My Diary

I stood in front of the wardrobe and hated every outfit for emotional reasons

Dear Delyara, Nothing was wrong with the clothes. But one dress felt too hopeful, one jumper felt too tired, one blouse reminded me of a meeting I’d rather forget, one pair of jeans felt too honest around the waist, one cardigan made me look like the version of myself who says yes to too much. I think sometimes we say “I have nothing to wear” when what we really mean is “I don’t know which version of myself I can bear being today.” That was me this morning. Eventually I picked something plain and forgettable and went out into the day. But the wardrobe moment stayed with me. It was never about fabric. It was about identity fatigue.
