My Diary
I stood in the kitchen and felt instantly defeated
Dear Delyara, Not because anything dramatic was wrong. Because everything was mildly wrong at once. Crumbs on the counter. One mug on the windowsill. A half-empty cereal bowl on the table. School bags in the wrong place. Dinner not started. A low battery on my phone. A child asking me what time something is tomorrow. The dog under my feet. The light too bright. The whole room felt like one giant unfinished sentence, and I was expected to complete it. I put the kettle on and actually felt tears come for a second, which is embarrassing until you’ve lived enough days like this to understand that defeat is often domestic before it is philosophical.
