My Diary
I stood in the kitchen and wanted the room to comfort me back
Dear Delyara, I know rooms can’t really do that. But tonight I wanted one to. I wanted the light, the quiet, the shapes of familiar things, the order or disorder of the space — something in it — to hold me more gently than the day had. I didn’t want the kitchen to feel like work or maintenance or accumulated evidence of life. I wanted it to feel sheltering. So I slowed down and made one corner of it softer. It didn’t solve anything. But it changed the emotional temperature enough that I could breathe more honestly there. That mattered.
