My Diary
I stood in the laundry room and felt more peaceful than I had in the living room all day
Dear Delyara, The washing machine was on. The dryer was humming. There were towels waiting to be folded and school uniforms still needing attention. And yet, for those few minutes, nobody was asking me anything. No one needed food. No one was explaining a problem. No one was calling my name from upstairs. No one was looking for something that had mysteriously become my responsibility to locate. I stood there holding a clean pillowcase and just breathed. Sometimes peace does not come in beautiful forms. Sometimes it comes in a laundry room with the door half closed and the rare relief of being unnecessary for three minutes.
