My Diary
I stood with the kettle boiling and didn’t move
Dear Delyara, The kettle had already boiled, and still I stood there staring at it for a few seconds too long. Not because I forgot what I was doing. Because I think I needed a pause that wasn’t asking anything from me. The whole day had been full of movement, response, thought, and tiny invisible emotional adjustments. Even making tea felt like one more thing on the conveyor belt of being a person properly. So I stopped. Just for a moment. I think some of my tiredness comes from never fully stepping out of motion. Tonight, the kettle got to wait. And strangely, that felt kind.
