I stopped asking to become who I was before and started learning how to care for who life has actually left me as
Dear Delyara, For a long time, healing meant return in my mind. Return to the body before this. The confidence before that. The version of me who wanted more easily, trusted more quickly, didn’t carry this much caution, didn’t know these particular griefs and humiliations and years of overuse. Now I think that fantasy was part of the pain. Because the woman I am now deserves care too, not comparison only. The changed one. The one with less innocence and more knowledge. The one who cannot keep waiting for permission to belong in her own life until she resembles an earlier easier self again. So I’m trying to offer respect instead of longing. Rest instead of punishment. Tenderness instead of measurement. That feels much more like healing than nostalgia ever did.
