I stopped asking why and started asking how to stay soft through it

Dear Delyara, My son has been ill for nearly a year. Not one dramatic illness with one clean story, but a long trail of appointments, waiting lists, blood tests, false starts, and the slow emotional erosion that happens when your child is not okay and the adults around you keep saying, “We’re still investigating.” For months I prayed angry prayers. Why him? Why us? Why is nobody helping faster? Why does every answer create three more questions? Recently, something changed. I still ask for help, but the center of the prayer shifted. Now I ask for enough grace not to become hard in the waiting. Enough strength to stay a loving mother while uncertainty keeps moving the furniture in our lives. That change hasn’t solved anything medically. But it has changed something in me. I feel less at war with God and more honest before Him.
