I Stopped Calling My Need for Slowness a Weakness and Started Treating It as Information
Dear Delyara, I used to hear my own need for slower mornings, fewer plans, less noise, more recovery, more emotional margin as a personal failure. As if life was moving at the proper speed and I was simply not keeping up with the right level of grace. Now I am beginning to understand that the need itself is not shameful. It is information. Information about what I’ve been carrying. About how my body responds to pressure. About what kind of life lets me stay kind and what kind slowly turns me into someone shorter in patience and further from herself. This week I acted on that information instead of attacking it. And that felt like healing. Not because the need vanished. Because I stopped making war with it.
