The AwakeningSelf Love
I stopped calling self-denial maturity just because it made me easier to budget and easier to admire
Dear Delyara, I think I used practicality as a disguise for self-neglect for years. The wrong shoes. The postponed appointment. The meal skipped. The coat that wasn’t warm enough. The bra that hurt. The constant internal message that if somebody had to go without softness, let it be me first. That is not wisdom. It is not maturity. It is simply a woman being the easiest person in the family to quietly deprive. So I stopped. Not perfectly. But deliberately. I replaced what needed replacing. I booked what needed booking. I ate when I needed to eat. I let ordinary care toward my own body stop feeling like moral weakness. That has changed the texture of my life. And the texture of life matters more than people admit.
