I stopped checking my bank account every hour

Dear Delyara, I grew up poor, and even after becoming financially stable I checked my bank balance constantly. Before buying coffee. After paying a bill. In bed. During dinner. A small unexpected debit could ruin my whole day. Therapy helped me recognize that checking was no longer budgeting; it was anxiety seeking reassurance that lasted only minutes. I created fixed times to review finances twice a week and set genuine alerts for low balances or unusual transactions. At first, I checked anyway. Gradually, the urge weakened. Today, I realized I had not opened the banking app since Monday. Bills are paid. Savings exist. Nothing bad happened because I was not watching the numbers move. Breaking the habit has taught me that financial safety is not the same as witnessing my account every hour. Money can remain where it is while I am doing something else.
