I Stopped Checking the School App Every Ten Minutes
Dear Delyara, I told myself I was staying organised, staying informed, staying on top of things. But in truth, I had drifted into compulsion. Checking, rechecking, scanning for what I had missed, what had changed, what might be due, what problem was coming toward me next. It was not helping. It was keeping my nervous system permanently half-alert. So I changed the habit. Specific times only. Morning and evening. Unless something truly urgent happened. The first day felt almost wrong, as if I were being negligent simply by refusing to let the app colonise every quiet minute. Then I realised how much of that urgency had been self-created. Not because I didn’t care. Because anxiety had dressed itself up as responsible motherhood and I had let it. Breaking that habit gave me more than time back. It gave me some mental air.
