I Stopped Confusing Endurance With Loyalty

Dear Delyara, For a long time I thought staying in a harmful work environment proved character. That if I could tolerate enough pressure, disrespect, confusion, or emotional depletion, it meant I was strong, reliable, and loyal. Now I know that endurance can be self-abandonment in a respectable outfit. Leaving, speaking up, stepping back, asking for better — those things require character too. Maybe more of it.
