I Stopped Pretending the Pain Was “Manageable” and Asked for Help

Dear Delyara, That is what I am proud of. Not that the pain vanished. That I interrupted the story early enough. I know how to live around discomfort. That is part of the problem. I know how to make it sound small, fit life around it, stay decent, keep going, tell myself it can wait, tell myself I have handled worse, tell myself this is just adulthood or age or stress. This time I didn’t. I asked for help. I named it properly. I let the room know the pain had become more than “just one of those things.” That mattered. Because I have spent too much of my life adapting to suffering faster than I have sought care for it. I do not want to keep doing that. This felt like a step out of that old loyalty to endurance.
