I stopped saying “it’s probably nothing” and gave my body the seriousness I would have given anyone else’s

Dear Delyara, That shift felt enormous to me. I realised, uncomfortably, that if someone I loved described what I had been experiencing, I would have told them to go to the doctor properly, to stop minimising, to take it seriously, to stop carrying it alone in guesswork and polite reduction. And yet because it was my body, I had kept using smaller language. Probably stress. Probably tiredness. Probably age. Probably hormones. Probably too much going on. This time I didn’t do that. I spoke plainly. I let the concern sound like concern instead of trying to make it easier for the room to hold. That changed the whole appointment. And, more importantly, it changed the way I felt toward my own body afterward. Less irritation. More responsibility. More care. That is a victory. Not because fear disappeared. Because care finally got ahead of denial.
