The AwakeningHealing

I stopped trying to become who I was before and started respecting who pain left me as

Dear Delyara, For a long time I thought healing meant return. Back to the old body. Back to the old confidence. Back to the old appetite for life. Back to a version of myself that didn’t know certain fears, didn’t carry certain griefs, didn’t move through rooms with this much caution in the nervous system. I don’t think that is what healing is anymore. Healing, for me now, looks much less romantic and much more honest. It looks like care. Real care. Eating before I get shaky. Resting before collapse. Telling the doctor the whole truth. Leaving conversations sooner when they become too emotionally expensive. Buying the better shoes. Taking the walk. Letting grief remain grief without forcing it into a lesson too quickly. It is not restoration. It is respect. And that has changed more than my longing for the past ever did.
