The AwakeningHealing

I stopped waiting to go back and started learning how to stay in the life I have now

Dear Delyara, For years, healing meant return in my mind. Back to the old body. The old energy. The old self. The old confidence. The old marriage before it changed. The old version of me who moved through life with less fear and less internal noise. I think I was secretly waiting for some version of recovery that would erase the evidence of what had happened to me. It hasn’t happened that way. What has changed instead is quieter and, I think, truer. I am learning how to stay. In this body. In this age. In this changed life. In the truth that some things were lost and others must now be built differently rather than recovered. I rest earlier. I tell the doctor the whole thing. I let grief stay grief without forcing it into a lesson too quickly. I do not keep asking my life to look like it did before pain touched it. That feels like healing to me now. Not restoration. Respect.
