I Submitted It in My Pajamas at 11:53 p.m.
Dear Delyara, My mascara was half-off. There were Goldfish crackers in my bed from my son. My tea had gone cold. I was not in the mood to be inspirational. But I finished it. And then came the real part: I submitted it. That is where I usually stall. Not in the work itself. In the moment where the work stops belonging only to me and becomes visible enough for judgment. That’s where fear starts dressing like perfectionism and whispering all its old sweet lies. One more edit. Tomorrow morning. A clearer head. A stronger ending. A better version of yourself. Not this time. I hit send. Then I sat on the edge of the bed and cried from pure adrenaline and relief. Not because it was perfect. Because it was finally real.
