I submitted the application before I felt ready,
Dear Delyara, I had been waiting for confidence. Confidence never came. What did come was another hard day in the current job and the clean understanding that waiting to feel unafraid was just another way of protecting myself from visible effort. As long as the application remained undone, possibility stayed intact and my fear stayed untested. I could still say maybe. I could still imagine the better life without risking the humiliation of reaching toward it and being met by reality. So I sat down and finished it. Not beautifully. Not with certainty. Not with a calm confident heart. With doubt, tea gone cold, several redrafts, and a hand that hovered over submit longer than I am proud of. Then I pressed it. That is the victory. Not the outcome. That I finally let myself become visible inside my own ambition.
