My Diary
I switched the light off with my elbow because my hands were full of everyone else’s day
Dear Delyara, Lunchboxes in one hand, a school jumper in the other, post under my arm, my own handbag sliding off my shoulder, and then the kitchen light switch just out of proper reach. So I used my elbow. That tiny awkward movement stayed with me because it felt too perfect. That is exactly what so much of life feels like now — trying to complete one more necessary thing while your hands are full of what everyone else needed from the hours before. I know this sounds like a small image. That’s why it works. The truth of family life often lives there. Not in speeches. In elbows.
