The PlotFear of Failure

I tell myself I’m refining things when I’m really hiding from exposure

Dear Delyara, That’s the sentence I keep circling back to lately because it embarrasses me with how accurate it feels. I genuinely do want things to be good. I’m not pretending. But somewhere in that honesty there is also a place where fear lives comfortably. It says refine the plan, sharpen the wording, give it more time, prepare better, wait until you can enter perfectly. It sounds mature. Responsible. Thoughtful. But often I am not refining. I am delaying the moment when other people can see what I care about enough to risk. That’s what makes fear in me difficult to challenge. It does not sound cowardly. It sounds intelligent.
