The BondFriendship
I think I stayed loyal to history longer than I stayed loyal to myself
Dear Delyara, That realization has been hard to sit with. I kept giving the friendship more time, more grace, more benefit of the doubt, more explanation, more room for imbalance, because history still felt sacred to me. I thought that made me loving. Maybe sometimes it did. Maybe sometimes it simply meant I was willing to betray my own clarity because memory felt too heavy to let go of. By the end, I was defending something I no longer felt safe inside. That’s the kind of truth that hurts twice — once when it’s happening, and once when you finally understand it.
