My Diary
I think I wanted witnessing more than help
Dear Delyara, That’s the important distinction tonight. If someone had tried to fix the day, I think I would have felt more tired. What I wanted was smaller and somehow deeper: witnessing. Someone who could sit close enough to the truth of how the day had felt without making me turn it into a solvable object. I think a lot of my exhaustion now comes from being offered solutions in places where what I really need is company. Not advice, not correction, not perspective — just another human presence saying, yes, that sounds like it cost something. That sentence can save so much energy. I wish more people knew that.
