I Think My Personality Has Started Rearranging Itself Around Depletion
Dear Delyara, The shorter patience. The smaller appetite for people. The need for silence that arrives so early in the evening. The emotional flatness mistaken for maturity. The body learning to avoid what once felt ordinary because it already knows how much everything costs now. I can feel depletion teaching me habits, preferences, and limits that would be easy to call personality if I stopped looking closely enough. And that is dangerous. Because then the problem disappears into who I “just am.” A woman who needs more quiet. A woman who doesn’t enjoy much. A woman who’s a bit flat by nature. A woman who keeps to herself. A woman who doesn’t have much emotional room left. But I wasn’t always like this. That matters. And I do not want to let burnout rewrite my identity in pencil and then pretend the new version was there all along.
