My Diary

I thought about one sentence from years ago

Dear Delyara, It came back suddenly tonight — one sentence someone said years ago that still somehow has enough life in it to sting. That’s the strange cruelty of memory. The speaker probably doesn’t carry it anymore. The room where it happened has long since stopped existing in any practical way. And still, the sentence remains alive in me, like a little preserved wound that can still be touched by the wrong mood or the wrong silence. I wish certain words would expire. Some don’t. Tonight it returned and stayed longer than I wanted it to.
