I told the doctor the whole truth this time
Dear Delyara, No minimizing. No “It’s probably nothing.” No leaving out the worse days because I was embarrassed by how much they affected me. No making myself sound more manageable than I really have been. I told the doctor exactly what the last few months have felt like — the fatigue, the low mood, the night waking, the way small things have started hitting me harder than they used to. My voice shook halfway through because honesty felt more exposing than I expected. But the appointment was different because of it. More useful. More real. I walked out with an actual plan instead of the vague aftertaste of having hidden from help while technically sitting in front of it. That is a victory for me. Telling the truth in time for care to meet it.
