I took the blood test instead of cancelling it for the fourth time
Dear Delyara, The appointment itself only took a few minutes. The avoidance had lasted months. It wasn’t fear of needles. It was fear of answers, fear of inconvenience, fear of becoming someone with a “thing” that needed monitoring, changing, managing. It’s amazing how much emotional resistance can gather around something so ordinary. This week I went. Sat down. Rolled up my sleeve. Looked away. Finished it. Walking back to the car, I felt more relieved than brave. But maybe relief is one of the most honest rewards courage gives us.
