My Diary

I turned off my phone and felt the silence in my body before I felt it in the room

Dear Delyara, The relief was physical. Not emotional first. My shoulders softened before my thoughts did. My chest loosened. My mind stopped leaning outward quite so aggressively. I had not realised how much being reachable now lives in the nervous system itself, not just in habit. School, work, family, messages, updates, reminders, obligations, emotional access — all of it sitting in that one object and in my body’s relationship with it. When I turned it off, I understood something simple and painful: I am not only tired of tasks. I am tired of access.
