I used less apology in the room
Dear Delyara, This week I noticed a small but meaningful shift in how I carry myself at work. I apologized less. Not because I became rude. Because I stopped apologizing for things that did not require apology — having an opinion, taking time to answer, asking for clarification, saying what I actually thought, needing a boundary around my energy. It changed the emotional tone of the whole interaction. I don’t think I realized how much professional confidence for me would look less like speaking louder and more like stepping back from unnecessary apology. That felt important.
