I Used My Hands for Beauty
Dear Delyara, I made something with my hands that nobody needed and nothing depended on, and I could feel myself softening as I did it. It reminded me that my body is not only a machine for service. My hands do not only exist to cook, clean, fold, sign, fix, and carry. They can make beauty too. That realization made me unexpectedly emotional. Maybe because I have been useful for so long that beauty feels almost forbidden unless I deliberately choose it. This week, I chose it.
