I Used My Hands for Something Beautiful
Dear Delyara, Not useful. Not urgent. Not for anyone else. Beautiful. Paper, fabric, colour, arranging, cutting, touching, shaping. The kind of small making that asks the mind to quiet down and follow the hands instead of racing ten steps ahead into money, health, children, messages, tomorrow. I had forgotten how much I need that. Because when a woman’s life becomes too practical, beauty starts to feel optional. Decorative. Extra. As if what matters is function and beauty can wait. But I don’t think that is true. I think beauty is one of the ways the self stays alive. This little project reminded me of that. And I am grateful it did.
