My Diary
I waited for the washing machine to finish like it owed me peace
Dear Delyara, I don’t even know why I felt that. Maybe because the whole day had been one long string of unfinished things, and I wanted one cycle to end properly in front of me. I stood there listening to the final spin as if that small mechanical completion might somehow soothe the larger incompletion in my body. Of course it didn’t. It just became another task. Move it over. Hang it up. Fold it later. Sort the school clothes. Check what still fits. Start again. That’s what domestic life becomes sometimes. Not finished things. Only transferred things.
