I walked without headphones and let the world reach me before my thoughts did
Dear Delyara, I hadn’t realised how much I now buffer myself from life with sound. Podcasts, messages, music, information, something always entering. I told myself it was useful. Sometimes it was. Sometimes it was just a way of staying one step away from my own inner noise. This week I walked without any of it. At first I felt exposed. Then slowly, something changed. Birds. Traffic far away. Cold air. Leaves under shoes. One barking dog. Someone laughing in a garden. The ordinary world reached me before my mind did. That mattered because my thoughts have become too dominant lately. Too managerial, too worried, too full. To let the outside world arrive first for once felt like relief in a form I had forgotten I needed.
