My Diary

I wanted a softer entry into the night than life gave me

Dear Delyara, Some nights feel like a descent. This one felt like a collision. The day didn’t end cleanly. It scattered into the evening in pieces — unfinished thoughts, a conversation still echoing, one practical problem waiting on the table, and that low-grade emotional static that happens when too many small things remain half-processed. By the time darkness arrived, I didn’t feel received by the night. I felt shoved into it. I think what I keep wanting is ritual without calling it ritual. A softer threshold. Something that tells the nervous system: you do not need to keep carrying the day at daytime volume now. Tonight, I had to make that threshold myself. Shoes off. Phone face down. One lamp only. No extra noise. No pretending I still had more capacity than I did. It helped a little. Not perfectly. But enough to keep the night from hardening around me.
