My Diary

I wanted my evening back from everybody

Dear Delyara, By the time I got home, my evening already felt claimed. Messages waiting. Practical things unfinished. People expecting replies. Mental reminders still active in my head. Someone else’s mood lingering in me from earlier. Tomorrow already making little appearances in the room. I miss the feeling of an evening that belongs to me before it belongs to everything else. Tonight I muted my phone, didn’t answer right away, and let the room stay imperfect. It felt almost rebellious, how much relief there was in not immediately re-entering everyone else. I think I need more protected emotional space than I’ve been allowing myself.
