My Diary
I wanted not to be reached by technology for one full hour
Dear Delyara, That shouldn’t feel like such a radical wish. But tonight it did. I wanted no vibration, no screen, no sudden entrance into my attention, no low-level pressure to check, answer, react, or re-enter the social world after I had already given enough of myself to it for one day. I wanted one full hour where my attention belonged only to my actual environment. I got close. Close enough that my body softened before I ruined it. That felt like a small miracle. And also like something that should be far more normal than it is.
