My Diary

I wanted one conversation not to follow me home

Dear Delyara, Some conversations end when they end. This one didn’t. It stayed in my tone, my shoulders, the back of my mind. I kept replaying one sentence, then another, wondering if I heard it right, if I answered right, if I should have said less, more, softer, differently. I’m tired of how some small interactions become long emotional echoes in me. Tonight I wanted clean contact. I got residue instead.
