My Diary
I wanted one evening where nobody in the house needed a form of me
Dear Delyara, Not my opinion, not my memory, not my help, not my softness, not my eyes, not my signatures, not my locating power, not my reminders, not my emotional steadiness. Just one evening where I could be in the house without being continuously translated into function. I know that sounds impossible because, in family life, it mostly is. Still, the desire was strong enough last night that I felt almost physically ache with it. It is tiring to be so many necessary versions of yourself in one set of rooms. By ten o’clock everyone else was quiet. I was still trying to come back into being a person.
