My Diary
I wanted one evening with no emotional admin
Dear Delyara, No checking in. No deciding what to say. No managing tone. No wondering if I owe someone a reply. No reviewing how something landed. No carrying the unfinished emotional paperwork of the day into the night. That’s what I wanted. I think a lot of my tiredness now comes from emotional admin — the tiny invisible maintenance work of being a person among other people. It doesn’t sound dramatic enough to justify how much it drains. But it drains all the same. Tonight I didn’t want closeness or distance. I wanted zero administration. A blank desk inside the heart. Nothing pending. Nothing flagged. Nothing waiting for a response. I didn’t get all the way there. But I longed for it clearly.
