My Diary

I wanted one evening with no school message

Dear Delyara, No reminder. No app notification. No costume day. No donation request. No “please ensure…” No low-level colonising of my home by the school system after the children were already safely in the house and the day should have been over. I think modern parenthood would feel ten percent easier if school stayed in school. But it doesn’t. It lives in my phone, in my kitchen, in my bedtime, in my Sunday nights, in my mental background constantly. Yesterday I got another message at 7:14 p.m. and felt actual anger. Not because of the content. Because I wanted one room in my day where institution had stopped speaking to me.
