The SilenceLoneliness

I wanted one person to read my silence correctly

Dear Delyara, Not solve it. Not fix it. Just read it correctly. That was what I wanted today. I wanted someone to notice that the quiet was not ordinary quiet. That the shorter answers were not disinterest. That the slower tone was not boredom. That “I’m fine” meant something much closer to “I cannot organize what I am carrying into language right now.” I think this is what makes loneliness so sharp in adulthood. You can be surrounded, contacted, included, and still feel privately untranslated. That’s what today felt like. Untranslated.
