My Diary

I wanted one person to understand the tone of my silence

Dear Delyara, Not the content. The tone. The difference between ordinary quiet and the kind of quiet that means I am carrying too much to speak normally. The kind of quiet that isn’t coldness or distance or disinterest, but emotional weight trying not to spill into public. I wanted one person to hear that difference today. No one did. That sounds more dramatic on paper than it looked in real life. In real life I just moved through the day like a normal person with normal responses and short answers and an interior that felt much fuller than the outside suggested. Maybe that’s why I’m writing here. Because pages hear better than people sometimes.
