My Diary
I wanted one room that expected nothing from me
Dear Delyara, Not one person. One room. A room without reminders, unfinished tasks, emotional residue, practical evidence, social expectation, or the subtle pressure to “make use” of the evening before it disappears. I wanted to sit somewhere that didn’t ask me to become better, brighter, more organized, more responsive, or more emotionally articulate than I felt. I think that’s why I kept moving from room to room tonight. I was searching for emotional neutrality and not quite finding it. Eventually I made one small corner softer. That helped enough.
