My Diary
I wanted one room where nothing in it was waiting for me
Dear Delyara, No washing basket. No unfolded clothes. No unopened post. No half-finished school project. No dinner decisions. No dog bowl. No shoes to move. No chargers to find. No reminders of what had been done badly or what still needed doing. Just one room where I could enter and not immediately feel the mental tug of tasks attached to visible objects. I think that’s what I was craving last night more than silence, actually. Not silence, but non-obligation. A place with no low-level claims on me. I didn’t find that room. I just moved through the house feeling slightly pursued by everything in it.
